If you are afraid of the dentist, you might be avoiding needed dental care or cosmetic dentistry you really want. Sedation dentistry is a great option to help you feel calm and relaxed at the dentist so you can get the services you want or need. But if you can’t have drugs or don’t like the thought of taking drugs, you might be interested in a drug-free alternative: NuCalm.

Most people can take advantage of this new technology to help you feel comfortable and relaxed at the dentist. It has fewer contraindications than regular sedation dentistry, but there are a few reasons why you might not be a candidate.

Who Can’t Use (All of) NuCalm

There are a few people who aren’t candidates for NuCalm, including:

  • People with pacemakers, cochlear implants, and other implanted devices
  • Children under the age of 12
  • Women who are pregnant or nursing
  • People with claustrophobia

NuCalm avoids the use of drugs for sedation dentistry by combining many different tools that lead to a progressively more relaxed state. The good news is that all of the people above can still benefit from most of the tools in NuCalm.

If you have implanted devices, we cannot use the microcurrent stimulation devices. It’s unlikely, but it’s possible that the currents could interfere with your device, and we don’t want to take a chance.

For pregnant women and children, the issue is the same. The nutritional supplements contain hormones that actually create a paradoxical effect–kids can get excited as can a baby who is exposed through the mother.

If you’re claustrophobic, we won’t use the light-blocking glasses. Instead, you can just close your eyes to keep out the light.

In all cases, NuCalm can still achieve a significantly relaxed state.
